Mad for Mulberry: Fashion turns fruity

You may have noticed a couple of trends emerging over the past couple of weeks; jazzy jumpers and fancy food motifs are my sartorial staple for the chilly winter months.

Guaranteed to get you feeling fruity, these kooky woollies by Mulberry are pure genius.

Everything from the googly eyes, colourful cartoon hues and pop art style contrast with the traditional shades of camel and black make for a youthful fashion find, one that will be guaranteed to make an appearance on my Christmas list.

Magnificent Marilyn: A Monroe tribute

Pretty Please can I have these, with a cherry on top? Topshop Lillie Sandals

I squealed with delight when I set eyes on Topshop’s Lillie Sandals. For me, they are the Cherry on the cake, quite literally.

Available in two colour ways, they hark back to Tom Fords Yves Saint Laurent 2003 offering which just goes to show that even eight years on, his designs continue to be an inspiration. When said YSL shoes were released I craved them like a fat kid craves cake but unlike Anna Dello Russo who managed to bag a pair in every colour way, I was not so fortunate.

Bringing me back to Topshop, the Lillie sandals with their diamante cherry and plush velvet make for the perfect party shoe. The red and gold pair, I fear scream Christmas and are tottering on the fence of chic or eek!

The black and green pair, a more modest version of the iconic shoe, are a little more me. The Lucite heel adds a touch of modernism and cool to the otherwise whimsical style.

Bebaroque: Bold and Beautiful

In light of my recent splurge I thought it best I dedicate a blog post to the beauty that is Bebaroque!

For those that don’t know, Bebaroque adds a touch of sparkle and novelty to otherwise mundane hosiery items. Whether a smattering of crystals, over sized sequins or printed patterns the bold and bright designs are not for the faint hearted.

My Bebaroque bounty included the very beautiful Mimi (gold polka dot), Luna (pink) and the comparatively plain sheer crystal. I’ll be pairing them with my trusty LBD’s throughout the party season. A stylish solution to keeping warm this winter as the thought of leaving home on a night out with bare legs and a party dress fills me with dread.

And if jazzy legwear isn’t your cup of tea, Bebaroque also design a range of clothing which includes embellished bodies, sassy skirts and daring dresses.

Popular with the fashion elite, Bebaroques contemporary classic, the Sofie body, can be seen here modelled by the lovely Michelene in a shoot styled by myself and Reeme Idris.

Margherita Missoni: A beautiful Bride-to-be

It was an exciting week for fashions finest families, first the news of an addition to the Restoin-Rotfield clan and now Congratulations are in order for the Missoni’s…

Margherita and her racing driver beau Eugenio Amos are getting married!

The question on every Fashionista worth-her-scarlet-soled-Louboutins is ‘What will the dress be like!?’

An apparent fan of the bridal look, Margherita knows a style that works for her.

Rarely pictured in anything but Missoni - not exactly a hardship - Margherita’s gown is likely to be a bridal incarnation of the archetypal Missoni style - all tonal colour combinations, intricate knits and overall, unbelievably chic.

The young Missoni heir is the personification of Bohemian style with her dark locks, sun kissed skin and penchant for 70’s glamour. My guess is that the dress will be a simple column in a luxe lace knit, defined at the waist and paired with fresh flowers in her hair. A look in tune with her effortless and low maintenance style and eaqually perfect for a beautiful bride.

Fashionably Festive: Alber Elbaz for a Claridges Christmas

If you hadn’t already guessed, Alber Elbaz, creative director of French fashion house Lanvin is one of my favourites. Not only for his exquisite designs, attention to detail and ability to create trends but for his charming character which is reflected in each and every collection.

Fairytales, magic and dreams are his inspirations, another reason to love the talented Mr Elbaz – A Lanvin gown makes you feel like a princess.

‘Fashion is not about a second skin. It’s not the perfect white t-shirt or camel jacket. What women need is a dream.’

With this in mind it  seems most appropriate that Elbaz has taken hold of the creative reigns at London’s luxury hotel Claridges to create a fashionably festive Christmas Tree.

On hearing this exciting news my mind raced with visions of ribbons, bows, and a seasonal colour palette of reds, greens and gold. After all, Elbaz is a traditionalist at heart and will no doubt design a dreamy display, fit for a fairytale Christmas.

The Alber Elbaz for Claridges Christmas Tree can be seen from the 22nd November 2011.

Nothing New, Fall 2011 to be be exact, but my love for Lavin and creative director Alber Elbaz has reached a new level!

Crazy for Kamikaze! Mimi Holliday’s S/S12 Offering

Mimi Holliday has done it again!

The saucy smalls are the work of Damaris Evans, a Central Saint Martins Graduate who set up her eponymous lingerie label in 2001 and The Mimi Holliday diffusion debuting in 2003.

The arrival of Mimi Holliday’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection is enough reason to start wishing the winter away – it’s bright, bold and completely irresistible!

My favourite, ‘Kamikaze’ is a delicious confection of neon pink Chiffon, edged in yellow Lace and adorned with satin ribbon bows which makes it the perfect foundation for the highlighter-chic trend set to be big for the summer months.

One thing’s for sure, Mimi Holliday is worth getting your knickers in a twist for!
